Believing ‘variety is the spice of life’ and that ‘there is no substitute for experience’, a rich and varied programme of Extra-Curricular-Activites (ECAs) is an integral and complementary part of the holistic educational package delivered to all students. Currently in excess of 80 activities take place each week across the school and beyond the boundaries of the formal academic timetable.. The range of activities provided enable the students to adopt a balanced approach to their physical, social and psychological development. Whether sporting, musical, artistic, hobby-based or acts of service, these supplementary pursuits enable all students to develop into well-rounded young people who are sufficiently prepared for a fulfilling adulthood.

In their first steps toward adolescence; Years 7-9 (KS3) students move around the campus having all lessons taught by specialist teachers in subject-dedicated teaching rooms. Their studies include a broad and balanced range of 14 different subject disciplines that give the breadth of experience individuals need to make informed decisions about more specialist routes they will wish to follow in later years. Students are constantly encouraged to be inquisitive independent thinkers and life-long-learners that are ready to take responsibility for the necessary risks they will experience on their individual learning journeys.

From age 14 -16 years, Years 10 & 11, students have their first opportunity to specialize and reduce the number of subjects they study.  Most will aim to take a total of 9 or 10 globally recognised IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualifications. In order to matriculate their choices should include 5 Core Subjects (Maths, English, a Science, an IT based subject, and a Modern Foreign Language). These are then complimented by up to 5 additional subjects chosen from both those previously experienced during their time in Key Stage 3 and a small number of new subjects.

Years 12 and 13, age 16-18 years, are the final two years of study prior to graduation and entry as young adults into university or full-time work. The pinnacle of school experience requires more specialisation. Most will choose 4-5 Advanced (A level) subjects, studying all at AS level in Year 12 and then further choosing their best 3-4 subjects for A2 studies in Year 13.  Passes in examinations contribute to a point total that informs University & Career choices. Graduates from The ABC International School typically go on to attend the very best universities in the world.
