Strengths
Key Stage 3 (7-8-9)
In these years students make the transition from Primary to Secondary school and develop the broad range of skills needed to excel in the International GCSE qualifications.
Students reach high English literacy levels in both English and Vietnamese by the end of primary before gradually increasing exposure to English to meet the demands of external examinations in the secondary school.
Most subjects are taught in English but Vietnamese literacy is also given a high priority in the timetable. Vietnamese Geography/ History are also taught in Vietnamese.
The curriculum and subsequent GCSE exams are adapted from the National Curriculum of England, provides an excellent foundation in preparing students for courses in Key Stage 4 and 5 which will lead to Cambridge University IGCSE and A level examinations.
Cambridge University and Edexcel courses are offered in over 9,000 schools in 160 countries worldwide. Their qualifications are internationally recognised for entrance purposes by all of the major universities in the world.
Key Stage 4 (10-11)
We call this Key Stage 4 and during these years students study for the academically rigorous IGCSE exams. This is an excellent preparation for A Levels and the first step in gaining entrance to the world's best universities.
In years 10 and 11 at BVIS, students take courses leading to IGCSE examinations in May and June of year 11. The syllabus for these examinations, and the examinations themselves, are set and marked by a UK based examinations board, Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Cambridge IGCSEs are the most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds in the world. They are taken by students in over 145 countries and in more than 6,100 schools globally.
Key Stage 5 (12 - 13)
In Years 12 and 13 (16-18 years old) students study for A Level qualifications in specific subjects. We use syllabuses from both Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel which are considered the gold standard of academic excellence and are accepted by all top-ranking universities around the world.
Focusing upon personalised learning, our teachers and University & Career Counsellor work closely with individual students to inspire and encourage their learning as well as to perfect their personal profiles, in order to maximise the possibilities for admission to their first-choice of university destination.
